Better Software - la Conferenza Italiana sul management dei progetti software

Better Software è la prima conferenza Italiana dedicata allo sviluppo di software e rivolta a imprenditori e manager del settore. L'evento è rivolto ad una varietà eterogenea di argomenti legati alla produzione di software: dalla raccolta delle specifiche al design, dal project management allo sviluppo, dal licensing al marketing.

L'evento, che si svolgerà a Firenze il 6 e 7 Maggio 2009, porta sul palco i più importanti esperti nazionali e internazionali su programmazione agile, open source, web marketing e tutte le discipline che contribuiscono alla costruzione di un prodotto stabile, usabile e vendibile.

Alcuni degli ospiti già confermati: Alex Martelli (Google project management), Roberto Galoppini (modelli di business Open Source), Carlo Piana (Licenze Software Open Source), Claudo Cicali (OpenId), Matteo Vaccari (gestione Team Agile).

PyCon Tre - Python Conference in Florence

PyCon is back! The most desired event in Python's community is online with a website: Pycon Tre. Conference will be in Florence from 8 to 10 of May 2009. Guest star in PyCon Tre will be Guido Van Rossum, founder and BDFL of Python!

The opening event for the conference will be on friday 8th in the prestigious Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio: Guido Van Rossum will give a keynote about Python's origins and birth.

The conference days are scheduled on saturday 9th and on sunday 10th: talks will be organized in three parallel tracks, and will be given by expert professionals. Moreover, several international famous guests are expected. About 400 people will attend, including professionals, students and Python's fans.

Develer is actively involved this year too, both as a sponsor and within the organizational board: some of Develer employees are in fact among Python Italia founders.

Nokia add LGPL to Qt Licensing Model

Nokia today announced that its Qt cross-platform user interface (UI) and application framework for desktop and embedded platforms will be available under the open source LGPL version 2.1 license from the release of Qt 4.5, scheduled for March 2009.

When released in March 2009, Qt will be made available under three licensing options: Commercial, LGPL and GPL.

In addition:

Qt source code repositories will be made publicly available and will encourage contributions from desktop and embedded developer communities.
Service offerings for Qt will be expanded to ensure that all Qt development projects can have access to the same levels of support, independent of the selected license.
