Configuration and installation of a Linux cluster, to treat and share data about genomic and post-genomic of Genexpress laboratory.

Each stated service is available through Single-Sign On, both from the local intranet and from the Internet, this result was obtained by centralizing the data authentication of the laboratory in a LDAP directory. The chosen software, OpenLDAP, is configured in “reply” operational mode to keep synchronization between servers.

The servers use Samba to create an environment in which both Windows and UNIX tools can be perfectly integrated; the environment is divided into more “sub-nets”, depending on the data types that must be treated and a different security level is associated to each of them.

Besides this, servers perform common DNS, DHCP, NTP, Storage and Domain master functions for sub-nets of expertise.

All servers use a storage RAID5 solution, in which each array disk is hot-swappable.

The solution includes a back-up customized server, placed in a different room from the cluster one.
